The cannabis plant has been proven to do some pretty remarkable things.
Not only is it being rediscovered as a wonderful medicine for a growing list of ailments and conditions, but as science finally surpasses stigma, marijuana is being transformed into substances that at one time were inconceivable.
Oro & Silk is a perfect example of a modern day modification to a medicine as old as time itself. Oro is Spanish for gold, and the name couldn’t be more apt for the potent Honey Oil that they produce. Silk is also the perfect description for the incredible Silk Rosin that this company creates.
Herbal Dispatch sat down with the owner of Oro & Silk to discuss what’s next for them as they develop new products using their distinct and original techniques.

Oro, Spanish for gold, reflects the colour and quality of Oro’s Honey Oil. Proudly made from a BC sun grown strain the natural taste and effects speak for themselves. This clean activated honey oil is suitable for all smoking, vaporizing, oral and transdermal applications and edibles.
We like to utilize the sun when growing cannabis, however mother nature can be hard on the cannabis plants when the weather is not cooperating so the end product can be less potent.
By making a concentrate like Rosin and adding terpenes, it brings out the potency and also the entourage effect. [The entourage effect] describes the relationship between terpenes, cannabinoids, and other phytochemicals responsible for the medicinal potential of cannabis.
When you add terpenes, are you adding the same ones that the strain already has, or are they terpenes from different strains added to the original cannabis?
A bit of both. It depends how our end product turns out. It’s a batch to batch decision.
Why are terpenes so important in a superior product?
Terpenes modulate the effect that the cannabinoids in each sample will have on the user. This is why strains of cannabis affect each user uniquely.
Cannabinoids and terpenes each have effects independently, but together, they have proven to be vastly more effective at treating human health conditions than in isolation.
Can you tell me more about Oro Honey Oil and your suggested method of ingestion? What are the effects one can expect from this product?
Some effects that one might expect from consuming Oro [are] euphoria, creativity, calm, pain relief [and] increased appetite. [The product has a] slight lemon pepper pine taste.
Favourite way to consume Oro is loaded in a quality vape pen. But the best thing about Oro is its adaptability, honestly. Its perfect in a joint with other bud or used in edibles. It’s very popular with the edible community because or the potency, consistency, quality and affordability.
Please describe more about your Silk Rosin product. Is it called “silk” because of its texture?
Yes. The name is inspired by the texture of the Rosin when its collected after being press. It has a shiny, stringy look which reminds us of silk, it’s quite beautiful.
And it’s also a play on words with “silk road”.
Are there any other products you have on the horizon that you can tell us about?
We’re looking into edible products with some samples being worked on now, so stay tuned for that. We’re [also] considering creams.
Vape pens and cartridges should also be available this year, we’re looking for a good, affordable, rechargeable pen, and quality cartridge and we’ll also be introducing hash shortly.
We like to think big and are always planning something but in regards to the industry we’re just waiting to see what’s gonna happen in the next year to understand how and where we fit in.
Speaking of that, do you have plans to join the licensed industry when recreational cannabis happens?
Absolutely. This industry has so much to offer and is changing so rapidly. We want to be part of it.
The cannabis culture has brought together some of the best people we have ever met and we believe this industry can make the world a better place. We are moving towards being licensed micro-growers.

Silk Rosin is a 100% pure extract from the buds of BC sun grown cannabis. Unlike other extracts such as shatter, Rosin requires no chemicals in the extraction process and is produced using only pure plant material. The result is a sticky sap like substance which ranges between 50% and 80% THC.
