If you’re a parent of young children, or even if you simply live with other people that you don’t want to smoke in front of, you are not alone. Marijuana users are constantly looking for discreet locations and methods of ingesting their favourite herb.
Thankfully, the diverse world of weed allows for a vast array of consumption methods for those of us who need to keep our dope on the down-low.
Perhaps the easiest and most inconspicuous method of ingestion is a cannabis drink.
These luscious liquids come in many forms, including hot and cold tea, coffee, cider, lemonade, and even sports drinks. The great thing about these refreshments is that they rarely have that potent marijuana smell, and if the kids see you drinking one they won’t know what’s in it.
Further, it’s easy to take little sips over the period of a few hours to maintain a great low-level buzz.
Probably the second-most discreet way to have your cannabis cake and eat it too would be edibles.
Sometimes, depending on the edible in question, there can be a mild smell of cannabis, but in many cases you wouldn’t smell any difference between a candy with weed in it and one without, until you tried it and experienced the effects.
The challenge with edibles and having children around is that they may ask you for a piece if they see you eating a cookie or something that is treat-related. You will need to come up with a quick excuse as to why they cannot have any. For parents who are open about their marijuana use, you can simply tell them the truth. For those who are not, you may want to say there is alcohol in the treat, because children understand they cannot have things like beer and wine.
If you are not big on eating or drinking pot, vape pens could be a viable solution.
Obviously, if your goal is to not have anyone see you vaping or smoking, you may have to go around the corner or perhaps into a room with a lock on the door.
The great thing about most vape pens, disposable or otherwise, is that they usually have fragrant smells or sometimes even no smell at all. Also, the leftover aroma seemingly dissipates much quicker then the lingering odour of a joint or even a handheld vaporizer.
One final way to make things extremely easy, is to be honest about your marijuana use to your kids or whoever else you are keeping it from.
Cannabis reform is now widely accepted, especially in Canada considering we are on the verge of legalizing recreational marijuana. Your kids, if they don’t know what it is already, are going to inevitably see and smell weed in the coming months and years.
Further, why shouldn’t cannabis, a substance that is safer than alcohol, be as open as drinking booze is? Parents and other adults regularly consume beer, wine, coolers and cocktails in front of children and adults alike and nobody blinks an eye. It’s long overdue that the same should be done with Mary Jane.
No matter how you choose to consume your bud, a wonderfully diverse selection exists at the click of a button through Herbal Dispatch.
